The history of modern Olympic games (Part 1)

The Olympic game is considered as the biggest sport event in the world which collects all pro athletes to compete and express their performance.

During the growth of Olympic games, it is spit into two major periods: the ancient Olympics and the modern Olympic games. In general, two periods have differences about content, role and influences. So, they separate it to be easy to follow.

Difference between the ancient and modern Olympic games

The fact, the big difference we can see in the changes from the ancient to modern period of the Olympic game was purpose in competitions.

If athletes thought that completing in sport could express feeling and admiring to the Greeks gods whereas the modern games, athletes changed the mind that they competed to bring victory for themselves and their nations.

Players in the modern Olympic games also were encouraged to make connection and reduce international conflicts. So, they contributed to the peace in the world.

Detail of the modern Olympic era

In 1800s, many local athletic games were organized as an official event but it was not really successful. 

In this period, Pierre de Coubertin being a young French nobleman led a meeting about international sports. He hoped athletes had the same pitch to express their talents.

By his determination and genius, he could collect representatives of some nations like: Belgium, England, France, Greece, Italy, Russia, Spain, Sweden and even the USA joined the meeting.

Finally, the first Olympic game was organized modernly by the host- Greece with joining of several representatives. It also received good feedback and effects. So, the council agreed that they would establish it every four years at great cities by turn.
